Grotte Beatrix

In the forest near Bourron Marlotte is one of the large moraines that stand on the Fontainebleau area and at the top of this moraine in particular is a cave called Grotte Beatrix. The actual grotte is nothing to be amazed by but the walk and the views are wonderful.

The easiest way to get there is to drive up the forest road from Rte de la Grande Vallée. It is sometimes a little slow and bumpy but most normal cars should navigate it just fine. There is parking at the end and a field for picnics or kicking a ball. A lot of Boulderers park up here and climb the nearby boulders.

There is a nice loop that you can do as well by following the path beside the map at the car park, climbing to the top of the ridge and then pretty much taking every right turn until you descent which will bring you back to the car park in about thirty minutes.
