In defense of Imane Khelif

Can everybody please leave Imane Khelif alone? She has been treated horribly and with little empathy by the media at large with misinformation rampant.

It does not matter if she is a man or a woman, the test of sex decided upon by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was the  sex on her passport. It is the IOC who should be being boiled alive by the media for using a substandard definition of sex. There are a number of countries now where you can have the sex on your passport changed but the usage of sex in sports is not the 'modern' gender usage. It is the biological sex usage.

In using a non-biological test the IOC has placed its female athletes at greater risk of not just losing a boxing match but of injury. It has placed its athletes at risk of severe harassment and it has treated them unfairly by placing them in a women's competition with no idea if they were competing against women.

As far as I know, Imane Khelif was observed at birth to be female, was raised as female, competed as a female and was accepted into the Olympics as a female. Even if she is not, then everybody should still back off, stop harassing her and attack the IOC instead. They made the rules. And can you imagine the horror of having the world questioning your sex in the middle of representing your country in the Olympics?

To reiterate, she has been treated very unfairly and everybody's ire should be aimed at the IOC, not her.
