There are quite a few playgrounds in Fontainebleau although some of them are quite difficult to find. The first one people find is generally the one in the main square but there is another not to far away from there (maybe one hundred meters) called Square Josephine that is quite popular as well.
Slightly harder to find is the playground in the park of the chateau and the hardest is To-Play because it is actually in Avon. I have added it in here as it is incredibly helpful to have an alternative on a rainy day. Something that is a lacking in Fontainebleau.
The newest playground is called Square des Lilas and is almost back out on the main road. It is really quite nice though with activities for all ages.
Also worth mentioning is the carousel across the road from the Gardens of Diane. While not necessarily a playground, children love it.
Table of Contents
Chateau Fontainebleau
Apart from the entire chateau being a park. There is also an actual playground with slides, jungle gyms and a small viking ship. There are usually other children there and the paths are all pushchair (or learning to ride a bike) friendly.
The best car parking is either at Place d’Armes or on the other side of the park along Avenue des Cascades.
Fontainebleau Carousel
Although not necessarily a playground the carousel is a must go to feature for children… and some adults. Across the road from the entrance to the Gardens of Diane kids love riding around on the planes, horses, carriages and other vehicles.
Fontainebleau Square
Small playground in the main square of Fontainebleau. There are usually a couple of other people there or something going on to keep the kids interested. It is right beside an underground car park as well so parking is good.
