What's wrong with New Zealand Media?

Note: I haven't titled this "What's wrong with the New Zealand News Media" as I am not sure they deserve that measure of respect.

So, Newshub or TV3 or whatever it is called is shutting down and I have been reading the comments on the Facebook posts which roughly boil down to good riddance, stop making up news and this is the best news I have heard all year. Actually the best one was along the lines of,

"You are only shutting down because nobody watches you which means this isn't really a loss to the country".

And all of that is kind of true.

For some reason the New Zealand Media have all decided that there is nothing wrong with their ideological viewpoint, failures to investigate, think critically or even report the news. That there was nothing wrong with their attacks on the government when the voting population voted in a slightly less radical coalition. It was always the stupid racist rednecks, the white stale males, the transphobes and right wing Nazi peddlers of hate speech that were at fault. It was always one side that got challenged and never the other.

And at no time, and this includes the current time, have any of the major media outlets including the government ones stood up and said,

"Hey, we were wrong and we have maligned and harmed a lot of people and caused a large amount of damage to society through our faults and we are open to trying to do better."

And they aren't changing, or at least not to any great extent.

This week the Cass Report came out confirming there needs to be a halt to the large scale use of puberty blockers on children as there was little to no evidence of there efficacy. The UK has already shut down the Tavistock Clinic and largely stopped the usage of puberty blockers and yet the New Zealand Media, with a much larger amount of children using the medication per capita in NZ, have sat on their hands and not investigated.

It is kind of unbelievable, it is possible that as a country we have damaged hundreds of children and placed them on permanent medication in a failed medical experiment with little to no evidence but no "news" organisation had the guts to ask the questions and most continue not to report on the problem.

Last week were the attacks on the government for trying to cut civil servant numbers with currently 2000 jobs in line to be cut and possibly up to 7500 to go. That is an amazing number until you run into the information that makes it more balanced. There was a 34% expansion of the public sector under the previous government with 13745 staff being added across just 10 government departments.

It just goes on and on and people are sick of the blind ideological stupidity of it. If the NZ Media has to die, I would have preferred it to be because of technological inadequacy but it looks like it is due to their blind superiority instead and unfortunately this points back to the University's who trained them.

We shall probably never know.
