Debian 13 KDE minimal
Table of Contents
Foreword
The following is probably mildly opinionated, and in some cases maybe outright wrong, but it is the way I set up my computers.
I love Debian but because they have to think of everybody they include things on the default desktop install such as a program for Thai language characters. Completely useless to me but probably invaluable if you are Thai. So, I don't use the live CD's or the Tasksel options on installation.
I also don't like the default desktop, Gnome. Actually, that is untrue. I really like its integration with the Online Accounts, etc...but I end up customizing it so much I eventually look at it and realise I am just recreating a KDE style desktop. So, I use KDE and I start with a minimal desktop.
This means I use the net-install ISO of Debian from here.
If you are following this then it is assumed you have as well and having got to the tasksel options to choose a desktop where you have deselected Gnome and Debian desktop, left Standard System Utilities selected, installed and rebooted.

and have now logged into the prompt.
Minimal KDE desktop
There are two packages you need to get a minimal KDE desktop, kde-plasma-desktop and plasma-nm.
sudo apt install kde-plasma-desktop plasma-nm
